Major infra upgrade for Burari: Rs 125 crore integrated (UNI)road & drainage works planned

New Delhi, Sept 20 (UNI) North Delhi' Burari is all set for a major infrastructure upgrade with a comprehensive plan to improve roads, drainage and connectivity across the area, the works that are going to address the area's woes related to drainage and other civic problems.
Delhi's PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh has inspected the Burari Road and adjoining drainage works and reviewed the proposed improvement plan with senior officers of the civic and infrastructure agency.
As part of the infrastructure improvement plan, the entire 7.1-km stretch of Burari Road will be made better through three clearly defined road sections, including, Outer Ring Road- Baba Colony, with Bituminous road, forming part of the 3.2-km stretch.
Baba Colony to Nathupura, the 3.9-km RCC road, estimated at Rs 39 crore, and Nathupura to Hiranki, Bituminous road, forming the remaining portion of the 3.2-km bituminous stretch, estimated at Rs 9 crore.
Thus, the overall road improvement will cover the continuous corridor from Outer Ring Road through Baba Colony and Nathupura up to Hiranki, with the Baba Colony–Nathupura section being developed in RCC and the Outer Ring Road–Baba Colony and Nathupura–Hiranki sections being developed in bituminous road.
A central verge will also be constructed along the entire 7.1-km stretch, as part of the comprehensive road upgrade plan.
To address water-logging woes, a comprehensive drainage network will be constructed alongside the road work, which is going to be around 9.3-km.
The estimated cost of the work is around Rs 75 crore, which is expected to improve the storm-water drainage, ultimately resolving the problem of waterlogging.
The drainage works will be covering areas like Amrit Vihar, upto Bengali Colony, with drains on both sides of the road, and Swaroop Nagar Mor to Burari Creek, drainage improvement along the identified stretch.
Notably, the drainage work tender work has already been completed, while the road work is expected to be tendered within the next 10 days.
PWD minister has said, 'The entire corridor will be upgraded in an integrated manner,” adding that, 'The objective is not to improve isolated portions of the road, but to upgrade the entire Burari corridor in an integrated manner. From the Outer Ring Road through Baba Colony and Nathupura up to Hiranki, the road will be improved according to the requirements of each stretch, while drainage infrastructure will be strengthened simultaneously,” he stated.
The Minister directed PWD officers to ensure close coordination, timely execution and strict quality control throughout the project.
He said, “Every stretch must be executed with proper planning and quality. The road and drainage works should be coordinated so that residents do not face repeated disruption and the infrastructure delivers a durable solution for Burari.”
According to the minister, dust-control measures will be in place, with regular water sprinkling to be undertaken along the affected stretches to control dust and provide relief to commuters and locals.
