Manipur: Police felicitates Mirabai Chanu, Roshibina Devi for Asian Games Silver Medals

Imphal, Oct 1 (UNI) Manipur Police felicitated Addl. SP (Sports) Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and Dy. SP (Sports) Naorem Roshibina Devi at Police Headquarters, Manipur today for winning silver medals at the 20th Asian Games 2026 in Japan.
The felicitation programme was attended by Director General of Police, Manipur, Mukesh Singh, IPS, along with senior police officers. Lamlai MLA K. Ibomcha Singh also attended the programme and accompanied the athletes.
During an interaction session, Mirabai Chanu and Roshibina Devi shared their experiences, challenges and memorable moments from their sporting careers and participation in the Asian Games.
Congratulating the athletes, DGP Mukesh Singh praised their dedication, perseverance and commitment to sporting excellence. He said their achievements were a source of pride for Manipur Police, the State and the country, and served as an inspiration to the younger generation.
The DGP also stressed the importance of identifying and nurturing emerging sporting talent and encouraging young athletes to pursue excellence in their respective disciplines.
He further said Manipur Police was considering policy initiatives to recognise and encourage outstanding sportspersons within the force in appreciation of their achievements and contributions to sports.
As a mark of appreciation, the DGP presented cash rewards of Rs ₹1 lakh each to Mirabai Chanu and Roshibina Devi for their achievements at the Asian Games.
The felicitation highlighted the contribution of the two athletes to Indian sport and Manipur Police’s efforts to recognise sporting excellence among its personnel.
