Maoist killed in encounter with security forces in Bijapur

Bijapur, June 5 (UNI) A Maoist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday, police said.

The identity of the deceased Maoist has not been confirmed yet.



Bastar Inspector General of Police P Sundarraj said the encounter took place in the national park area of Bijapur between the joint security forces and the Maoists.



He added that an automatic weapon has reportedly been recovered from the site.



The encounter was still on, the IG said. UNI XC AKT SSP
