Meerut court convicts Muskan and Sahil in murder of Saurabh in infamous Blue Drum case

Meerut, Sep 30 (UNI) The district court today convicted accused Muskan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil Shukla, in the infamous Saurabh Rajput murder case. The court ruled that Muskan, along with Sahil, had murdered Saurabh and then hidden the body in a 'Blue Drum'.
The court of district judge Arvind Kumar Mishra will announce the sentence after 15 days.
Muskan and Sahil were anxious before the verdict. Muskan had been praying in jail for the past three days while Sahil had stopped talking to fellow inmates.
Both attended the court hearing through video conferencing.
The incident dates back to March 3, 2025 when Muskan and Sahil murdered Saurabh that day. They dismembered his body and packed it in a blue drum. Fifteen days later, the police arrested them and sent them to jail.
According to the crime, on March 18, 2025, Bablu, a resident of Indranagar, filed a report at the Brahmapuri police station. He stated that his brother Saurabh had married Muskan Rastogi, who lived opposite their house, in 2016.
In 2019, Muskan had a relationship with Sahil Shukla, who lived in Ranjan Wali Gali. Saurabh had been troubled ever since.
Saurabh had suddenly disappeared on March 5, 2025. The house he rented from Ompal was locked. Muskan was also missing. Bablu suspected that Muskan and Sahil had conspired to murder Saurabh.
On March 18, police revealed that Muskan and her lover, Sahil, murdered Saurabh on the night of March 3. After committing the crime, they left for Shimla and Manali on March 5.
When they returned to Meerut on March 17, police arrested them and recovered pieces of Saurabh's body from a blue drum.
Saurabh's brutal murder sparked public outrage. On March 19, when both were produced in court under tight security, angry lawyers beat up Sahil. The police barely defended them.
Since then, both accused have been appearing in court via video conferencing.

The trial began in the District Judge's court in July 2025. The police filed a 1,000-page charge sheet. Over 22 witnesses testified over 126 dates. The court reserved its verdict on September 19.
