Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) launched in UP

Lucknow, Nov 1 (UNI) A comprehensive public awareness and public participation week long campaign was launched on Sunday under Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) through the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, operated under the Rural Development Department.
The campaign aims to encourage the general public to adopt a healthy lifestyle, create awareness about environmental protection, and encourage environmentally friendly behaviours in daily life.
On the first day of the program today, self-help group members were administered a pledge to adopt a healthy lifestyle through the MYBharat and MeriLiFE portals. Public awareness programs, morning walks, walkathons, yoga, and bicycle rallies were also organized. The message of environmental protection was also spread through tree planting under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign. A day-by-day action plan has been developed for the seven-day program.
Officials have been instructed to disseminate new programs and their implementation process to the public through the group and ensure the program's success.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya stated that environmental protection is not only the government's responsibility, but also the collective responsibility of every citizen.
"Through public participation and small positive changes in daily life, environmental protection can be made a mass movement. The active role of the sisters from self-help groups in this campaign will be crucial in raising awareness in rural areas and adopting an environmentally friendly lifestyle," he said.
The seven key themes of the campaign include adopting a healthy lifestyle, energy conservation, water conservation, promoting sustainable food systems, eliminating single-use plastics, reducing e-waste, and reducing waste.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed that these programs ensure widespread participation of self-help groups, village organizations, cluster-level associations, community cadres, and other relevant stakeholders. The campaign aims to accelerate a mass movement towards sustainable development by empowering rural families to be environmentally responsible.
