MLC poll results have exposed opposition's agenda, Congress has lost even in ballot-paper elections: Anurag Thakur

Hamirpur (HP), Oct 29 (UNI) Former union Minister and Member of Parliament from the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency, Anurag Singh Thakur, expressed satisfaction over the NDA's victory in elections for 28 Legislative Council (MLC) seats across four states.
He said that these elections—conducted using ballot papers—have completely dismantled the propaganda spread by the Congress and the broader opposition concerning 'vote theft.'
The election results make it clear that the Congress has lost both the public's trust and its own base of support.
In a statement, Thakur remarked that the Congress party has become fixated on a politics of fear, confusion, lies, and chaos.
By questioning constitutional institutions, official positions, and established systems, the Congress is attempting to mask its repeated electoral defeats. It has become a hallmark of Congress' political strategy to insult the popular mandate by levelling baseless allegations—sometimes against EVMs, at other times against the Election Commission or the Election Commissioners themselves.
He asserted that the NDA's victory and the Congress' defeat in the elections for 28 Legislative Council seats across four states have exposed the hollowness of the opposition's claims.
The fact that the Congress faced a crushing defeat even in elections held via ballot paper casts serious doubt on the credibility of its allegations regarding 'vote theft.' These results clearly demonstrate that the public's trust lies with the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, he said.
Thakur further noted that in the recently concluded Panchayati Raj and urban local body elections in Himachal Pradesh, the public rejected the Congress and delivered a mandate in favour of the BJP.
These results indicate that the people of the state are disillusioned with the policies and working style of the Congress government and are seeking change. Ballot papers were used in these elections as well, yet the Congress failed to secure the support of the public.
He stated that the Congress must understand that, regardless of whether the voting process uses EVMs or ballot papers, respecting the popular mandate is a fundamental requirement of democracy.
Making baseless allegations—such as claims of 'vote theft'—a political issue, despite facing repeated electoral defeats, reflects the Congress party's desperation. Instead of engaging in politics based on such accusations, the Congress should focus on regaining the public's trust.
