MPSC Chairman under fire: Rohit Pawar slams 'extravagant' ₹10-lakh rent Mumbai office while aspirants struggle

Mumbai, Sep 24 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar has launched a scathing attack on Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar, accusing him of gross financial extravagance.
Pawar has alleged that while the commission’s primary headquarters remains stationed in Belapur, a luxurious and expansive 4,000 sq. ft. independent office has been rented out for the Chairman at Center One Building in Cuffe Parade’s World Trade Center, carrying a staggering monthly rent of ₹10 lakh.
Criticizing the commission's priorities, Pawar pointed out the stark contrast between charging impoverished aspirants steep examination fees and spending public money on high-end corporate office spaces in South Mumbai.
The NCP leader openly questioned the necessity of a separate setup in Mumbai's prime business district, alleging it is meant to facilitate political maneuvering and backchannel dealings near the state ministry (Mantralaya).
This latest salvo follows a series of ongoing student protests and demands from the opposition seeking Bhimanwar’s resignation over past recruitment controversies and alleged examination irregularities.
Rebutting the mounting allegations, MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar has firmly denied any wrongdoing, clarifying that controversies like the Drug Inspector examination leak occurred prior to his assumption of office and dismissed the personal attacks as politically motivated.
