MPSC Drug Inspector Exam Paper Leak: Asst Section Officer Arrested

Mumbai, Oct 23 (UNI) In a fresh development in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Drug Inspector examination paper leak case, an Assistant Section Officer was arrested in Navi Mumbai on Friday, taking the total number of accused apprehended in the case to 13.
The latest arrest marks a further step in the investigation into the breach of confidentiality surrounding the Drug Inspector (Group-B) recruitment examination conducted by the MPSC earlier this year. The probe is focused on establishing how the examination paper was accessed before the test, how the material was circulated and whether additional persons were involved in the irregularities.
The identity of the officer arrested on Friday, the specific charge against the individual and the circumstances leading to the arrest were not immediately available. The investigating agency is yet to disclose further details of the officer's alleged role in the case.
The case relates to the screening examination for recruitment to Drug Inspector (Group-B) posts under the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Department. The offline examination was conducted on March 22, 2026, at six divisional headquarters across Maharashtra.
According to details reported earlier investigators suspected that the confidential examination material had been accessed before the scheduled test, compiled into a separate set and circulated among unauthorised persons.
The alleged leak came to light following complaints that certain candidates had received the question paper or questions before the examination. The complaints also raised concerns over the possible circulation of examination material through electronic means and social media.
The MPSC approached the Mumbai Police Commissioner on July 27, seeking an inquiry into the allegations. Following a preliminary investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch, a formal case was registered on August 25.
In the initial phase of the investigation, police arrested six persons on August 26, including three MPSC officials, a private coaching academy director and two alleged intermediaries. Subsequent arrests included a candidate who had allegedly benefited from the leaked material, as well as other persons suspected of facilitating the operation.
