Nashik: Chemical waste discharge raises health concerns for 25,000 residents in Ambad’s Ward 27

Nashik, Oct 1 (UNI) The health of nearly 25,000 residents in Ward 27 of Ambad is reportedly at risk due to the alleged discharge of chemical wastewater from electroplating industries into local drains. Residents claim that the yellowish effluent is contaminating groundwater, affecting the quality of water drawn from wells and hand pumps.
People living in Maruti Sankul, Dattanagar and the Tuljabhavani area have expressed concern over the situation, alleging that prolonged exposure to contaminated water has led to an increase in skin ailments, itching and irritation.
The problem has been compounded by an inadequate municipal water supply and the absence of an overhead water tank, leaving residents heavily dependent on wells and hand pumps for their daily needs.
Residents have demanded immediate intervention by the authorities, including the construction of an overhead water tank and measures to prevent the discharge of untreated industrial waste.
They have warned of launching a mass agitation if their demands are not addressed promptly.
