Netflix confirms Lady Gaga's entry in Wednesday Season 2 at Tudum fan event

Los Angeles, June 1 (UNI) Netflix has officially welcomed Lady Gaga to the macabre world of "Wednesday", confirming her appearance in the show's second season during a theatrical reveal at the steamer's breakout "Addams Family" spinoff.

The announcement coincided with the release of the season's gripping opening sequence and a theatrical, gothic performance by Gaga herself at the streamer's Tudum fan extravaganza at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, reported The Hollywood Report on Sunday.

Gaga made a grand entrance from a coffin bearing the inscription “Here lies the monster queen” on the lid and backed by a cadre of Addams Family-esque dancers, Gaga performed “Zombieboy” from her recently released album Mayhem.

Following another dance performance — to the Cramps’ “Goo Goo Muck,” which soundtracked Wednesday’s viral dance scene in season one — Gaga re-emerged to perform “Abracadabra” before returning to her coffin.

While her exact role remains under wraps, Gaga is confirmed to appear as a guest character at Nevermore Academy, the gothic school for supernatural outcasts where Wednesday Addams played by Jenna Ortega, is a student. Her casting is a natural fit; after season one aired, a viral TikTok trend paired Wednesday's dance with Gaga's "Bloody Mary", which Gaga later joined herself.

Season 2 of Wednesday will roll out in two parts, with the first dropping on August 6 and the second on September 3. Gaga will be one of many newcomers to the show in season two, which also added Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor as series regulars and Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo in guest roles. They join returning cast Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Fred Armisen, Isaac Ordonez and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo.

Lady Gaga’s previous acting credits include Joker: Folie à Deux, A Star Is Born — for which she won an Oscar for best original song and was nominated for best actress — House of Gucci and two seasons of FX’s American Horror Story.

The first season of Wednesday became a global hit after its release in 2022. The first season of Wednesday — from creator / showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar along with executive producer and director Tim Burton, garnering 252 million views and becoming Netflix's most-watched English-language series to date.

The newly released opening scene of Season 2 finds Wednesday locked in a serial killer’s (Haley Joel Osment) basement, recounting how she ended up there and explaining that the killer thinks she is his next victim.
