Flipkart generates 2.5 lakh jobs ahead of festive season to boosts delivery network

New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) The leading e-commerce platform, Flipkart said thta it has generated over 2.5 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across India ahead of the festive shopping season.
The company said a significant portion of these opportunities has been created for first-time job seekers, with nearly 75,000 individuals entering the workforce through roles across its logistics and supply chain network.
The hiring drive covers more than 7,000 Ekart facilities, including fulfilment centres, sortation hubs and last-mile delivery operations spread across the country. Flipkart has also expanded its logistics infrastructure by adding over 900 delivery hubs to strengthen order fulfilment during its upcoming festive sale events, including the Big Billion Days.
The platform said nearly 1.4 lakh additional opportunities have been created in last-mile operations, which account for nearly 60 per cent of the total seasonal hiring.
The expansion of quick commerce services under Flipkart Minutes, along with rising demand from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, has contributed significantly to the increase in delivery-related jobs.
Flipkart also highlighted efforts to improve workforce diversity within its supply chain operations. Women now make up more than one-fifth of roles across warehouses, fulfilment centres and logistics functions, while participation by persons with disabilities has also increased.
Beyond direct employment, the company said its marketplace ecosystem continues to support sellers, merchants and small businesses by helping them access customers across the country through digital commerce platforms.
To support workers engaged in logistics and delivery operations, Flipkart said it offers several welfare initiatives, including medical and accident insurance, round-the-clock telemedicine services and assistance with e-Shram registration.
The festive season typically leads to a sharp rise in hiring across India’s e-commerce sector as companies strengthen warehousing, logistics and delivery capabilities to handle increased order volumes.
