Technopark to have its First Prefabricated Building

Thiruvananthapuram, May 5 (UNI) In a significant step toward meeting the increasing demand for IT and ITES infrastructure, Technopark is set to construct its first prefabricated building at its Phase I campus.
This initiative aligns with the sustainable development goals of India’s pioneering IT park.
The foundation stone for the three-storeyed, 50,000 sq. ft. prefab building was laid by Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO Technopark near the Pamba-Periyar buildings on the Phase I campus.
The event was attended by Madhavan Praveen, General Manager (Projects); Vasanth Varada, Deputy General Manager (Marketing and Customer Relationship); Vipin Kumar S, Chief Finance Officer of Kerala IT Parks; Abhilash D.S, Assistant General Manager (Admin & IR); other Technopark officials and representatives from Wootz Structures Pvt. Ltd., the project’s executing agency.
Prefabrication technology involves manufacturing building components in a controlled off-site environment, which are then transported and assembled at the construction site. This project marks Technopark’s first in-house prefabricated construction.
The building's architectural and structural design has been approved by IIT Palakkad, while the College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET) verified the soil testing and other construction-related parameters.
Designed with a focus on sustainability and efficiency, the building will feature 80 percent space efficiency, open dining and recreational areas, compliance with Kerala Municipal Building Rules (KMBR), floor-to-floor height of four meters, provision for 4–5 modules per floor, natural lighting, ample ventilation, HVAC systems and 100 percent DG backup.
Additional amenities include office spaces, meeting rooms, conference halls, a pantry, restrooms, recreation areas, a reception zone, and service rooms.
Kochi-based Wootz Structures Pvt Ltd. has been entrusted with the execution of the work.
In a parallel development at Technopark Kollam, the foundation stone for a Working Women’s Hostel at the Technopark Kollam campus was laid on 3 May 2025 in the presence of team Technopark.
Col. Sanjeev Nair (Retd), Madhavan Praveen, other Technopark officials, and representatives from Rohas Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Thiruvananthapuram, attended the event.
The hostel will feature six well-designed rooms and is being developed with a cost-effective, sustainable design approach that prioritizes safety, comfort, and durability for women professionals working at the Kollam campus.
Technopark Kollam also has plans underway to develop a sports ground and an open-air theatre, further enhancing the campus ecosystem.
