Two Indian tourists die in rafting accident in Bhutan

Thimpu, Sep 25 (UNI) Two Indian tourists, a 60-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man, died after falling from a rafting boat in Bhutan’s Mochhu River, officials said.
The incident occurred when a massive wave hit the rafting boat near Yebisa village under Chhubu Gewog in Punakha district. Three people reportedly fell into the river, while one woman was rescued unharmed.
The two Indian tourists were rescued from downstream and taken towards Punakha hospital. However, they reportedly died on the way to the hospital on the evening of September 24.
According to information available, 16 Indian “regional” tourists had gone rafting and boarded three rafting boats from the Yebisa area. The deceased tourists were travelling in one of the boats.
The bodies of the two tourists were reportedly handed over to their relatives and flown to Delhi on Friday morning, official sources said.
The two deceased were part of a group that was on a week-long tour of Bhutan.
