Eleven drown in boat mishap in Vaishali, rescue operation underway

Hajipur, Oct 13 (UNI) At least 11 people were drowned after a boat capsized in a river at Rampur in the Raghopur Diara area of Vaishali district on Tuesday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the victims were travelling to attend a feast at the residence of Singeshwar Rai in the diara region when the small country boat overturned while crossing the river Ganga.
The incident triggered panic in the area, with local residents rushing to assist those who fell into the water.
Official sources said around 15 to 20 people, including youths and children, were aboard the boat when it capsized. With the help of local residents and divers, 11 bodies have so far been recovered from the river.
Teams from the district administration and police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and have been camping in the area.
A search and rescue operation is underway to locate those still missing, the sources added.
Further details regarding the identities of the victims and the circumstances leading to the accident are awaited.
