Three killed, four injured as car carrying pre-wedding shoot group overturns in East Burdwan

Burdwan, Oct 27 (UNI) Three persons were killed and four injured when a car carrying a group for a pre-wedding photoshoot overturned after hitting a motorcycle near Jharna Morh on the Burdwan-Suri highway (NH-114A) in Bhatar, East Burdwan, around midday on Tuesday.
The would-be bride and groom, however, escaped unhurt, police said.
According to police, a goat suddenly came in front of the speeding car. While trying to avoid the animal, the driver lost control, hit a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction from Guskara town and the vehicle overturned into a roadside ditch.
The deceased have been identified as Sudeb Ghosh (28) of Mosagram Station Bazar, Sheikh Nawaz (26) of Kamalsayar in Burdwan town, and Sadhujamal Shah (43) of Orgram under Ausgram police station. Shah was riding the motorcycle.
According to the families and police, six persons from the Koyrapur area had hired a four-wheeler to travel to Santiniketan for a pre-wedding photoshoot.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Guskara Block Health Centre. They were later shifted to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital as their condition deteriorated. Three persons were declared dead on arrival, while the remaining four were admitted to a private nursing home in Burdwan town. Bhatar police have started an investigation.
The district has witnessed a spate of fatal road accidents in recent weeks. On October 21, three persons — Kamakhya Roy (61), Narugopal Roy (45) and Srikanta Roy (41), all residents of Bajitpur village under Raina police station — were killed when a lorry hit their motorcycle in front of a petrol pump at Mirepota on State Highway 7, which connects Burdwan and Arambagh.
Earlier, on September 19, three persons — Babul Kenai (45) of Ausgram, Mahadev Bagdi (28) of Anuragpur under Galsi police station, and Rahul Bagdi (18) of Bandra Gopalpur under Kanksa police station — were killed when a lorry hit their motorcycle near Paraj Morh on NH-19 in Galsi. UNI KS NST
