After Satya Niketan tragedy, Odisha Govt orders 15-day safety inspection of unsafe buildings

Bhubaneswar, Sep 8 (UNI) In the wake of the Satya Niketan building tragedy, the Odisha Government has intensified its crackdown on unsafe and dilapidated structures, ordering a fresh, time-bound assessment of buildings across the State and directing officials to initiate action, including demolition, wherever they pose a threat to life and property.
State Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said a "15-day inquiry and inspection team has been constituted to identify structurally vulnerable buildings and recommend necessary action. The exercise will cover both government and private buildings."
He added that the unsafe government buildings has already been assessed and notices issued wherever necessary. Following a fresh review with the department, officials have been directed to expedite the process and issue demolition notices against structures found to be beyond repair.
