SIR process in Tripura to begin from Dec 26

Agartala, Nov 1 (UNI) Tripura’s voter-roll revision will begin later than first planned. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved a new schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), using January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date for the electoral rolls.
The change follows a request from Tripura’s Chief Electoral Officer, who asked to defer the work because of the state’s Urban Local Body general elections. The ECI accepted the request and issued the revised timeline on October 29.
Preparations, staff training, and printing of materials are set for December 15 to 24. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will then visit homes from December 26 through January 25 to carry out the fieldwork for the revision.
