Arunachal CM hands over appointment orders to 21 Assistant Professors

Itanagar, Oct 15 (UNI) With the academic session already under way, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday handed over orders of appointment along with posting places to 21 successful candidates of the Assistant Professor Examination 2026 conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). He urged them to join their assigned government colleges without delay.
Congratulating the appointees, Khandu said the recruitment reflected the state government’s commitment to fair, transparent and merit-based selection. He said his government had sought to ensure a level playing field for job aspirants, crediting the APPSC and Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) for their role in the process.
“We hurriedly called for giving away the appointment letters along with posting places to all successful Assistant Professors because we cannot delay the process as we are already into the middle of the academic session,” he said, stressing the importance of immediate joining.
Emphasising the role of teachers in shaping society, the Chief Minister said human resources, not infrastructure, were the real yardstick of development. Teachers, he said, had a vital responsibility in building the capabilities of young people and shaping future citizens.
“You on your own chose this profession, prepared for it and appeared for the examination. You worked hard to achieve success. Now it’s your turn to do justice to what you have chosen,” Khandu told the new appointees.
The recruitment is expected to help address vacant teaching positions in government colleges across the state while providing employment opportunities to educated youth.
According to the APPSC, the posts were advertised on January 22, 2026. Interviews for the 21 vacancies were held on August 18 and 19, with the results declared on August 19.
The Commission received 263 applications across five subjects, of which 66 candidates were shortlisted for interviews and 21 selected. Mathematics and Chemistry accounted for six appointees each, followed by Physics with five. Anthropology and Sociology had two appointees each.
Sociology attracted the highest number of applications, with 86 candidates applying for two posts, followed by Anthropology with 32 applications. Chemistry received 50 applications, Physics 48 and Mathematics 47.
Advisor to the Education Minister Mutchu Mithi, Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta, Secretaries of Education and General Administration, and parents and relatives of the appointees attended the programme.
