STF seizes arms, arrests four in Bengal's Murshidabad

Kolkata, June 27 (UNI) The Special Task Force of West Bengal Police has arrested four suspects, two of them from Bihar, and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from them from Farakka area of West Bengal's Murshidabad district, official sources said today.
Police sources said the STF followed up an input and laid a trap near Netaji bridge in Murshidabad's Farakka. During an frisking of vehicles on Thursday evening, the STF caught the suspects who stored the arms and ammunition beneath the seats.
The arrested were identified as Mukesh Mishra and Shyamjit Kumar Thakur from Bihar, Nayeem Uddin Sheikh and Sanaul Sheikh, the residents of Kaliachak in Malda district.
The seized arms were nine country-made pipe guns and scores of live bullets. The weapons were being imported from Bihar, police said. Police also seized a car with Bihar registration.
The suspects will be produced before a Murshidabad court.
