Six militants nabbed in Manipur

Imphal, June 23 (UNI) Security forces in Manipur have intensified operations across the state, resulting in the arrest of multiple insurgent cadres and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, police said on Monday.

During the last 24 hours, one individual affiliated with a proscribed outfit was apprehended by state police in Imphal West, they said.

In a separate operation, another individual suspected of involvement in a recent high-profile murder case was arrested from the Mongsangei Makha Leikai area of Imphal West.

Further, security forces detained four cadres affiliated with another banned militant outfit during coordinated operations across Imphal East District. These arrests led to the recovery of a large quantity of arms and ammunition from a location in the foothills of Kalika under Porompat Police Station.

In continued area domination and search operations conducted in the fringe and vulnerable zones of hill and valley districts, additional items were recovered from the Makhabasti area under Jiribam Police Station. These included one each of the M4 carbine, INSAS rifle, SLR rifle, etc.
