Odisha: Operation Anweshan brings 101 missing children closer to home

Bhubaneswar, Sep 10 (UNI) In an inter-state operation to trace missing and trafficked children from Odisha, the Crime Against Women & Children Wing of Odisha Police, in collaboration with the Women & Child Development Department, has traced 101 children from 17 states.
The operation, ‘Anweshan’, conducted from August 28 to September 8, involved 17 teams from Odisha visiting states identified as major destinations for missing and trafficked Odia children. The teams carried out field searches, verified leads, and coordinated with authorities and Child Care Institutions (CCIs) in the respective states.
Of the 101 children traced, 54 are boys and 47 are girls. As many as 83 children—46 boys and 37 girls—were traced from CCIs, while seven, including six boys and a girl, were found at labour sites. Another 11 children—two boys and nine girls—were traced in cases of missing children registered with Odisha Police.
