Odisha: Two minor girls allegedly raped, 5 held

Bhubaneswar, Sep 17 (UNI) Odisha police have arrested five youths in connection with the alleged rape of two minor girls in Sundargarh district, an incident that took place on September 14 and came to light today.
As per the complaint, the two girls were returning to their village, Khukrubahal, under Kuarmunda police limits after attending a local festival when the accused, travelling on two motorcycles, offered them a lift around 10 pm.
The girls accepted the offer, but the youths allegedly took them to a nearby forested area and sexually assaulted them before dropping them back near their homes.
The minors subsequently informed their family members, following which local elders approached the police.
Police registered a case after a preliminary inquiry and detained the five accused for questioning.
Biramitrapur police station Inspector-In-Charge Ram Prasad Nag confirmed the arrest and said the investigation was underway.
