Five districts of Odisha ,Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri, are likely to be affected by the developing weather system. Officers have also been assigned to supervise sensitive railway sections and coordinate immediate action in the event of an emergency.
To ensure the swift restoration of railway services in case of disruption, ECoR has positioned monsoon reserve trains, diesel locomotives, tower wagons, heavy machinery, engineering equipment and other essential restoration materials at strategic locations.
Accident Relief Trains, medical teams, ambulances and first-aid facilities are also being kept ready to respond to emergencies and provide assistance wherever required.
The railway authorities are maintaining continuous coordination with the Meteorological Department and the Government of Odisha to track the cyclone’s movement and assess its potential impact on railway operations.
Passenger safety remains a key priority, with station officials instructed to keep travellers informed about possible changes in train services through public address systems. Necessary precautions are being taken to safeguard passengers, railway employees and infrastructure during the anticipated adverse weather conditions.
As a precautionary measure, train services will be regulated in view of the expected weather conditions. Further operational decisions will be taken based on the prevailing situation and safety assessments.
ECoR is closely monitoring developments and has directed all concerned departments and divisions to remain on high alert and maintain readiness to respond to any eventuality.
According to ECoR sources, the coordinated measures are aimed at minimising disruption, protecting railway assets, ensuring the safety of passengers and employees, and restoring normal train operations as quickly as possible after the weather conditions improve.
