Meghalaya Teacher Training Academy and Bharti Airtel Foundation sign MoU to strengthen teacher professional development

Shillong, Oct 8 (UNI) The Meghalaya Teacher Training Academy (MTTA) and Bharti Airtel Foundation on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance continuous professional development of teachers across the state through TheTeacherApp.
The signing ceremony was held in the Cabinet Room of the Main Secretariat in the presence of Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, senior government officials from the Education department and Chief Operating Officer of Bharti Airtel Foundation Binu Nair and Bharti Airtel Foundation Regional Head. Kumar Ashutosh.
Through TheTeacherApp — Bharti Airtel Foundation’s free-for-life platform for continuous teacher development — educators in Meghalaya will have access to self-paced professional development courses, expert-led webinars, AI-powered tools for lesson planning and assessment, classroom resource repositories, question banks, and opportunities to engage with a wider professional learning community.
Built on over two decades of field experience and aligned with National Education Policy 2020 priorities, TheTeacherApp brings together curated resources, peer-to-peer collaboration through the Teachers’ Lounge, and AI-enabled adaptive tools to help teachers strengthen classroom practices and improve student learning outcomes.
The platform currently reaches over 3.25 lakh users across all 36 States and union Territories in partnership with NITI Aayog and state governments.
“Empowering our teachers through continuous learning is central to improving the quality of school education. Technology-enabled platforms like TheTeacherApp will provide educators in Meghalaya with accessible, relevant, and need-based professional development resources that complement classroom practices,” Rymbui said.
The partnership reaffirms the shared commitment of the Government of Meghalaya, MTTA, and Bharti Airtel Foundation to strengthening teacher capacity and promoting quality education through continuous professional learning and the effective use of technology in classrooms.
“Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our children. Through TheTeacherApp, we aim to support educators with continuous learning opportunities, practical classroom resources, and innovative digital tools that help them grow professionally and enhance student learning,” Nair said.
