Bengal: IIT Kharagpur backs 108 toppers with fellowships worth crores

Midnapore, Sep 11 (UNI) Bengal's premier institute, IIT Kharagpur, has backed 108 of the country’s top JEE (Advanced), JAM and GATE performers with its Platinum Jubilee fellowships, including potential innovation and startup support of more than Rs 1 crore for outstanding undergraduate achievers, turning academic merit into a launchpad for research, entrepreneurship and nation-building.
At a ceremony held at the Ben Gupta Auditorium of the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Kharagpur Director Prof Suman Chakraborty and the institute’s Deans felicitated the awardees as part of the institute’s 75th-year celebrations.
The fellowships cover 55 PhD scholars who secured positions among the top 50 in GATE, six M.Sc. students among the top 50 in JAM, and 47 undergraduate students who figured among the top ranks in JEE (Advanced) 2026.
