Jan Suraj opens account in Bihar Legislative Council by winning Darbhanga Teachers' constituency, snatches seat from Congress

Darbhanga, Oct 27 (UNI) In a significant electoral breakthrough, the Jan Suraj Party today opened its account in the Bihar Legislative Council, with its candidate Suresh Prasad Rai winning the Darbhanga Teachers’ Constituency election by a margin of 387 votes.
Rai polled 2,574 votes while the outgoing MLC of Congress from this seat, Madan Mohan Jha, got 2,187 votes.
Rai defeated Jha, wresting the seat from the Congress and marking an important victory for Jan Suraj in Bihar’s political landscape.
The result marks Jan Suraj’s entry into the Bihar Legislative Council through the teachers’ constituency, giving the party a foothold in the state’s legislative politics.
Jha’s defeat is a setback for the Congress in the Darbhanga Teachers’ Constituency, where the contest had drawn attention amid the party’s efforts to retain its political influence.
With Rai’s victory, Jan Suraj has registered a notable electoral success as it seeks to expand its presence in Bihar’s political arena.
