74 Companies of CAPF to be deployed in Tripura VC poll

Agartala, Sep 16 (UNI) A deployment of at least 74 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), alongside the Tripura Police and the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), has been decided by the State Election Commission (SEC) for the upcoming Village Committee elections in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC), set for September 28.
The SEC has implemented enhanced security measures and monitoring to ensure a smooth election process.
In a statement, State Election Commissioner Dr P K Chakraborty mentioned holding two meetings yesterday to review security readiness, law-and-order strategies, and overall election preparations.
These meetings were attended by the Director General of Police, the Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), District Election Officers-cum-District Magistrates, and Superintendents of Police from various districts.
Officials briefed the Commission on steps taken to maintain order during the election campaign, stressing the importance of a fair environment for all political parties and candidates to enable a democratic atmosphere for voters.
Sector officers and police personnel have been instructed to facilitate swift access for political party representatives to their polling stations on Election Day. In addition, regular area dominance exercises and flag marches are occurring across various districts under the supervision of District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police.
District administrations and police authorities have been tasked with implementing necessary measures to maintain peace and increase voter confidence.
The Commission has enforced several restrictions under Section 189 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, 2023, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Samhita, 2023, and Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. UNI BB SAS
