Bihar flood deaths deeply tragic, heartbreaking: Rahul Gandhi

Patna, Sep 15 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday described the loss of lives in the devastating floods in Bihar as “deeply tragic and heartbreaking” and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.
Gandhi urged Congress workers in Bihar to extend all possible assistance to people affected by the floods.
He also appealed to the government and administration to undertake relief and rescue operations with full urgency and ensure that essential assistance reaches affected families at the earliest.
In a post on X, Gandhi expressed his deepest sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones in the disaster and said his thoughts were with all those affected by the tragedy.
He called upon Congress workers to step forward and help people in the flood-hit areas in every possible way.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives caused by the floods in Bihar and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families.
Kharge said around 50 lakh people in 15 districts of the state had been affected by the floods, with normal life disrupted in thousands of villages.
He said the government's priority during the crisis should be to ensure that relief and assistance reach every affected family.
He appealed to the government and administration to leave no stone unturned in relief, rescue, medical assistance and rehabilitation efforts and ensure immediate support to the affected families.
Kharge also urged Congress workers to reach the affected areas and extend all possible help to the people.
Congress general secretary and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed grief over the devastation caused by the severe floods in Bihar, saying lakhs of people had been affected and there had been significant loss of life and property.
Praying for peace to the souls of those who lost their lives, Priyanka Gandhi conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the affected families.
She urged the government to accelerate relief and rescue operations so that assistance could reach the affected people at the earliest.
She said the entire country stood firmly with the people of Bihar affected by the disaster.
