Tripura court sentenced five Bangladeshi national

Agartala, Oct 2 (UNI) A local court located in South Tripura on Thursday sentenced five Bangladeshi nationals to a period of four months' simple imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 30,000 upon each individual under the provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act.
The court pronounced Parimal Chandra Das (38), Nishi Das (36), Mridul Das (30), Arjun Das (30), and Helendu Das (35), are guilty. All of them are domiciled in Kalyani under Dhirai police station jurisdiction of Sunamganj district of Bangladesh.
According to Tripura Police, the five individuals were apprehended by officers from PR Bari police station in Rajnagar, South Tripura district, on June 14, following receipt of intelligence indicating that certain Bangladeshi nationals had procured a white Maruti Ertiga vehicle from Radhanagar locality through the facilitation of an Indian intermediary and were proceeding toward Agartala.
Subsequently, a police contingent established a checkpoint at Rangamura and intercepted the aforementioned vehicle, resulting in the arrest of the five Bangladeshi nationals.
The accused parties faced prosecution under Section 21 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act in relation to PR Bari police station Case No. 17/2026, which was registered under Sections 21/23/24 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act and Sections 183/184/187 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Following a comprehensive investigation, Sub-Inspector Bikash Debnath of PR Bari police station filed the charge-sheet on August 11. The trial court subsequently determined all five accused to be culpable and imposed sentences of four months' simple imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 30,000 for each individual.
