Opposition alleges rigging in Nandigram, Rejinagar; BJP confident of comfortable victories

Kolkata, Oct 6 (UNI) Opposition parties alleged large-scale rigging and suppression of votes during polling in Nandigram and Rejinagar, even as the ruling BJP dismissed the charges and was confident of comfortable victories in both constituencies, saying voters had realised that the new government would deliver development and bring investment and jobs to the state.
The sharpest allegations came from Nandigram, where Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari cast his vote in the morning and predicted a record victory for BJP candidate Hasirani Rath.
“Polling was free and peaceful and Rath will surpass my 2016 victory margin of around 82,000 votes,” Adhikari said after casting his vote on Tuesday.
