Bengal BJP warns Birbhum leaders against factionalism, unauthorised activities

Nanoor, Nov 1 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership has issued a stern warning against factionalism and unauthorised activities within its ranks in West Bengal's Birbhum district, directing Mandal presidents and block-level leaders to strictly follow the instructions of the district president before undertaking any party work.
Senior BJP leader Khokon Das said no worker or leader would be permitted to act beyond the explicit directions of the party leadership.
He made the remarks at a special organisational meeting of the Bolpur organisational district held in Nanoor, in the presence of several senior leaders, including district president Shyamapada Pal, who was seated on the dais.
Das said the party would adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards public dissent. He added that workers had been barred from posting sensitive organisational information on social media. Any controversial or unauthorised posts would invite strict disciplinary action against both those responsible and the local leaders under whose jurisdiction they operate.
Drawing a comparison with the rival Trinamool Congress (TMC), Das said internal lobbying and factional rivalries would not be tolerated. He urged party members to adhere to the BJP's principles.
Addressing internal differences, Das directed leaders to submit formal letters to the district president to resolve personal or professional disputes. Public criticism, including on social media, would be treated as anti-party activity and dealt with firmly, he said.
The leadership also warned against clandestine ties with the opposition, barring party leaders from holding secret meetings or maintaining under-the-table relationships with TMC leaders. Violations would invite disciplinary action.
The district committee, the leadership said, would have the sole authority to decide which leaders would spearhead party activities in local areas and Gram Panchayats.
To safeguard the party's public image, workers were also warned against anti-social behaviour and forcibly occupying clubs, public organisations or local offices.
The meeting in Nanoor was the first organisational gathering covering all seven Assembly segments of the district since the new BJP government assumed power in the state.
