Jharkhand Congress to observe ‘Save Democracy Week’ from Oct 2

Ranchi, Oct 1 (UNI) The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee will observe ‘Save Democracy Week’ from October 2 to 8 and organise ‘Save Vote-Save Nation’ marches across all districts, the party said on Thursday.
The campaign will be held on the directions of the All India Congress Committee and under the guidance of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, state Congress media in-charge Rakesh Sinha said.
He said district Congress committees would hold joint meetings and press conferences with alliance partners, followed by block-level meetings to mobilise party workers and citizens.
Large-scale marches would subsequently be organised in all districts, either to statues of Dr B R Ambedkar or Mahatma Gandhi or to the offices of district magistrates, Sinha said.
He said Article 326 of the Constitution would be read out publicly during the marches to create awareness about adult suffrage and voting rights.
The campaign will involve state and district office-bearers, MLAs, MPs, senior party leaders and functionaries of frontal organisations, departments and cells, besides grassroots workers, he said.
Sinha said the programmes would also be publicised through social media and photographs, videos and media coverage would be compiled and submitted to the state Congress committee.
He said the campaign would focus on creating awareness about the Constitution, democratic rights and voting rights.
