BJP slams Meghalaya CM’s helicopter tours ahead of GHADC elections

Shillong, Oct 26 (UNI) Meghalaya Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice-President Bernard Marak has vehemently slammed the state government’s reported expenditure on helicopter tours by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma ahead of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections.
In a strongly worded press statement issued on Sunday, Marak, who is also a member of the GHADC, argued that public funds should instead be used to pay pending salaries and pensions.
“At a time when teachers, casual workers, and employees of the GHADC are awaiting their rightful dues, spending public money on helicopter tours that may serve as indirect election campaigning is deeply concerning,” Marak cautioned.
