Odisha BJP questions Rahul Gandhi’s silence over sexual harassment allegations against Manipur Congress MP

Bhubaneswar, Oct 10 (UNI) The Odisha BJP on Saturday questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s silence over sexual harassment allegations against party MP from Manipur and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, accusing the Congress of double standards on women’s rights and dignity.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters here, Odisha BJP Mahila Morcha president Dr Aishwarya Biswal demanded that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership at the national and state levels clarify their stand on the allegations.
Biswal claimed that the JNU Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) had taken action against Akoijam following allegations of sexual harassment involving 11 female students. Condemning the alleged misconduct, she said such incidents undermined the dignity of the teaching profession and violated the traditional guru-disciple relationship.
