TIPRA Motha MLA seeks action against Tripura’s SP (Security), alleging partiality and bias

Agartala, Oct 28 (UNI) The ruling BJP’s ally in Tripura government, TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma, has requested Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu to examine serious lapses in his security arrangements and accused Superintendent of Police (Security) Amitabh Paul of partiality, communal bias and financial corruption.
Debbarma, in a letter, stated that the arbitrary removal of his Personal Security Officers (PSOs) had put his safety at risk. For the last few days, he had no security staff despite serving a remote, hilly constituency he considers vulnerable.
His letter mentioned that his PSOs have been changed repeatedly and, latest, PSO Sukesh Debbarma was withdrawn on October 10 without any consultation. The MLA said he filed a complaint on October 13 and asked for an impartial inquiry into the reason for the repeated change of his security.
Debbarma said the SP Security office did not properly address his concerns. In protest, he handed over his two remaining PSOs on October 23 and told them to report to the relevant office. He said he has had no security cover since then.
Debbarma also alleged that repeated changes to his security team were meant to put him under psychological pressure. Neither he nor the department, he said, had complained about the officers assigned to protect him. He questioned why they were repeatedly withdrawn or transferred.
The letter also faults the security wing’s handling of staff assignments. Debbarma alleged that police personnel faced unequal treatment in postings and transfers. Some, he claimed, remained assigned to VIPs and VVIPs for three years, or even eight to ten years, while others were denied similar placements.
Debbarma pointed to past political violence in Tripura, naming former MLAs Parimal Saha, Madhusudan Saha and Gautam Datta, along with former minister Bimal Sinha. He cited their cases to explain his concerns about the risks of alleged bias or neglect in security arrangements.
