TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore prefers to exit from active politics in Tripura

Agartala, Sep 19 (UNI) The founder of TIPRA Motha and ally of the ruling BJP, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman reaffirmed today his decision to leave active politics, but said he wishes to continue his advocacy for the indigenous community's growth and development.
During a live session on Facebook, Debbarman expressed his disappointment with the current political landscape, criticizing leaders for prioritizing self-interest over principles and ideology.
He observed that many politicians today are more concerned with their proximity to power than adhering to a set of values. Despite this, he acknowledged that within the CPI (M), there still exists some level of ideology, discipline, and political values, which he finds lacking elsewhere.
Debbarman also criticized political leaders for often shifting their loyalties based on power dynamics, suggesting that some aligned with the BJP might join Congress if national politics shifted.
Expressing frustration with his own party, he highlighted concerns over personal ambitions and power struggles affecting the party's integrity. He mentioned alleged corruption in the ADC administration, admitting his inability to address these issues effectively.
Being the face of Motha, Debbarman shared how recent events have affected his reputation, sparking his desire to step away from conventional politics to achieve broader goals for the indigenous community. He emphasized his commitment to providing educational and entrepreneurial opportunities for the younger generation in Tripura, focusing on creating jobs for youth and the emerging Gen-Z demographic.
His upcoming initiatives will not necessarily involve elections or traditional party activities. Instead, Debbarman plans to focus on innovative approaches to help young Tiprasa people access better education, entrepreneurship opportunities, and skilled jobs.
Previously, Debbarman had indicated his plans to exit politics after the 2023 Assembly elections. By September 2026, he reiterated his fatigue with political life and contemplated withdrawing from it.
He reassured his commitment to staying in Tripura and advocating for indigenous rights outside the political sphere. Debbarman expressed faith in the promises made by BJP leadership and the central government regarding the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord signed in March 2024, aimed at advancing the state's indigenous population's welfare.
However, he also indicated that if these promises remain unfulfilled, he intends to influence public opinion and exert pressure beyond traditional political methods.
