ECI announces Spl Summary Revision schedule for Arunachal

Itanagar, Nov 5 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of photo electoral rolls in Arunachal Pradesh, with January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date. The exercise aims to update electoral rolls and ensure the inclusion of all eligible voters.
According to a press note issued by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Neeraj Semwal on Thursday, the integrated draft electoral rolls will be published on November 30, followed by a month-long period for filing claims and objections from November 30 to December 30.
The disposal of claims and objections will be completed by January 16, 2027, and the final electoral rolls will be published on January 21.
As part of the preparatory exercise, polling stations will be rationalised and rearranged by November 20 in accordance with ECI guidelines. The exercise will focus on improving voter convenience and accessibility, including assessing the need for new polling stations and ensuring a more equitable distribution of electors among polling stations.
The prescribed limit of 1,200 electors per polling station will be considered while assessing the requirement for new polling stations, subject to ECI approval wherever necessary. Efforts will also be made to ensure that voters do not have to travel more than two kilometres or cross natural barriers to reach their designated polling stations.
District Election Officers (DEOs) will consult representatives of recognised political parties before finalising proposals for new polling stations.
The CEO's office has appealed to all stakeholders to extend their cooperation in the revision exercise to ensure accurate, updated and inclusive electoral rolls.
