Sandeepa Dhar credits Aatish Kapadia for introducing her to comedy

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) Actress Sandeepa Dhar says filmmaker Aatish Kapadia played a key role in introducing her to comedy through "Chumbak", where she portrays Kiran, one of the few relatively sensible characters amid an eccentric set of personalities.
Regarding becoming a part of the show, Sandeepa said that one day she received a call from Kapadia, the director of "Chumbak." He told her that he was developing a new show in collaboration with Netflix and JD and asked her to take a test for it.
Dhar said, "At first, I was surprised to hear him say, 'Comedy, and me?' because I had never done comedy before. But after listening to him, I agreed." She continued that the way Kapadia narrated the entire story during her meeting was even more interesting. According to Sandeepa, Aatish enacted each character himself, making her feel as if she was watching a play. At that very moment, she decided she wanted to be a part of the show.
Speaking about her character, the 37year-old actress said that playing Kiran wasn't easy, as she's the most intelligent person on the show. She had to convey comedy through her actions while ensuring her expressions didn't appear artificial. She discussed this extensively with Kapadia.
According to Sandeepa, Kapadia's storytelling style and his ability to bring characters to life inspired her to join "Chumbak". UNI NST SS
