Rajnath to launch publications, IT initiatives of Defence Accounts Department

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) The Defence Accounts Department (DAD) will celebrate its 279th Annual Day in the national capital on October 1, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh scheduled to launch a series of information technology initiatives and publications of the department.
Singh will attend the celebrations at the Dr D.S. Kothari Auditorium, DRDO Bhawan, where he is also scheduled to confer the Raksha Mantri Awards for Excellence 2026 on officers and staff for their exemplary performance and contribution to key initiatives of the Ministry of Defence and DAD.
Among the major IT initiatives to be launched is the integration of the Indian Army Financial Information System (IAFIS) with DAD's SAKSHAM platform.
The Defence Minister will also launch the revamped National Compilation System (NCS) for the Ministry of Defence and the Payment Routing and Integrated System Management (PRISM) platform, aimed at introducing Treasury-Single Account payments in the ministry.
Singh will release the Comprehensive Statistical Handbook on Defence Expenditure (COSHE) 2026, Raksha Lekha Bharati, the department's in-house Hindi magazine, and the Market Intelligence Report 2025-26.
A short film on SPARSH (System for Pension Administration (Raksha)), the flagship defence pensions system, will also be released during the event.
The DAD traces its origins to the appointment of the Military Pay Master in 1747 and has since evolved in line with the changing requirements of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence.
The department provides key financial services to the defence establishment, including internal audit, accounting, financial advice and management of defence pensions.
