Students key to building clean, green and healthy Viksit Bharat 2047: Pralhad Joshi

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi on Thursday called upon students to play a leading role in building a clean, green and healthy India by 2047, urging them to make cleanliness a sustained habit and contribute actively to public welfare.
Joshi was speaking during a Shramdaan and cleanliness drive at Gargi College, University of Delhi, organised under the nationwide ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ initiative.
The minister also planted a sapling on the college premises under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
Interacting with students, Joshi said cleanliness was closely linked with public health and overall well-being and stressed the need for collective participation to make Swachhata a sustained practice.
He urged students to contribute at least 30 minutes to cleanliness-oriented activities and maintain cleanliness not only in educational institutions but also at their homes and in public spaces.
“Individual efforts can inspire collective action,” the minister said, emphasising the need to transform Swachhata into a people’s movement.
Joshi also highlighted the importance of physical fitness and outdoor activities for young people. He encouraged students to participate in sports and spend more time on playgrounds while maintaining a healthy balance with screen-based activities.
The minister said students were key pillars in translating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat into action and called upon them to contribute through responsible citizenship and active participation.
He said a clean, green and healthy India would require sustained efforts by citizens, particularly the youth, who have an important role in shaping the country’s future.
University of Delhi Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, faculty members of Gargi College and senior officials of the Education Ministry were present on the occasion.
