UAE President calls Modi on Birthday, reaffirms commitment to deepen strategic partnership

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday received a telephone call from United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who conveyed warm birthday greetings to him and discussed ways to further deepen the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders discussed new measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas, including energy, defence, technology, investment and health.
The conversation highlighted the expanding scope of India-UAE ties and the efforts by both sides to widen cooperation across sectors of mutual interest.
Sheikh Mohamed also congratulated Modi on India’s successful BRICS Presidency and its outcomes.
Modi appreciated the participation of UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the BRICS Summit and thanked the UAE for its “cooperation and partnership” in enabling substantive outcomes during India’s Presidency.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the developments in West Asia against the backdrop of continuing regional challenges.
They “reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and coordination” towards promoting peace, security and stability in the region, the PMO said.
The telephone conversation comes amid a steady expansion of India-UAE relations, with the two countries deepening cooperation in trade, investment, energy, defence, technology and people-to-people ties.
The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has provided an overarching framework for closer engagement between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi.
Economic ties have also gained momentum through the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, while high-level political exchanges have reinforced cooperation on regional and global issues.
The UAE has emerged as an important partner for India in the Gulf and the wider West Asian region.
India’s BRICS Presidency provided another platform for engagement with the UAE as part of the expanded BRICS framework.
The UAE’s participation in the New Delhi summit underscored the growing convergence between the two countries on a range of international and regional issues.
Friday’s conversation thus brought together birthday greetings for Modi, discussions on further strengthening the India-UAE strategic partnership and an exchange of views on the evolving situation in West Asia, with both leaders reiterating their commitment to closer coordination and regional peace and stability.
