CPI(M)'s Baby meets Kejriwal, discusses Election Commission row & ED action against Pinarayi Vijayan

New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary M A Baby today met Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence in New Delhi and discussed the Enforcement Directorate’s actions against CPI(M) Polit Bureau member, former Kerala Chief Minister and present Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Pinarayi Vijayan, as well as the controversy surrounding the functioning of the Election Commission of India.
The meeting came amid intensified efforts by opposition parties to coordinate their response to concerns over the Election Commission and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Baby and Kejriwal also discussed developments following an Indian Express report on differences within the poll panel over several decisions linked to the SIR exercise. The report said Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had recorded objections on multiple occasions over decisions and orders relating to the revision process. The Election Commission, however, has maintained that differing views and observations are a normal part of institutional deliberations and that its decisions have legal sanction and follow prescribed procedures.
