Delhi BJP holds massive protest near Kharge’s residence over his alleged remarks on PM Modi’s father

New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The Delhi BJP, led by president Harsh Malhotra, on Monday staged a massive demonstration near the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge here, protesting his alleged insulting remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s deceased father.
State in-charge Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, along with approximately 2,000 workers of the party’s state unit, Yuva and OBC Morchas gathered near Sena Bhawan on Rajaji Marg, where party leaders addressed them.
The party workers began a march towards Kharge’s residence after the leaders addressed the gathering, and as they moved closer to the residence, police stopped them with barricading at the Kushak Road turn. However, they pushed through the barricades and tried to move ahead, and were stopped by the police near Sena Bhawan. Around 200 workers, office bearers, the state unit chief of BJP were taken away to the Mandir Marg Police Station.
Meanwhile, addressing the protestors, Malhotra said that Kharge, who is the President of the Congress Party, used objectionable words against the Prime Minister’s father.
“We have gathered at Kharge ji’s residence today to tell him that Narendra Modi is not merely a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, but one of the top leaders in the world and the Prime Minister of India. Kharge ji must apologise for his remarks,” he added.
He said that the entire Congress Party, whether it is Rahul Gandhi or Congress President, have become frustrated. "
After suffering continuous electoral defeats, they are unable to understand what to do. They repeatedly resort to creating an atmosphere of anarchy and behave as though they do not respect the law," he added.
“They want to stage protests outside the Supreme Court, organise rallies and attempt to enter the Supreme Court premises, and at times even reach the gates of Parliament. They are people who do not respect constitutional institutions or the laws of the country,” he said.
Malhotra said that a few months ago, they attempted to shut down Delhi, which affected the entire business community of the city.
He claimed that the grand old party’s frustration is increasing because the people are not with them, while their own people and workers are also not with them, and whenever by-election results are announced and the Congress and opposition parties suffer defeats there as well, their frustration increases further.
Malhotra said that this "insult" will not be tolerated by the Bharatiya Janata Party or by the people of the country and Delhi, and therefore the party’s Yuva Morcha colleagues have gathered here to protest Kharge’s disgraceful remarks and to tell him that he must apologise.
He said that until the Congress chief apologises, the movement and protest will continue.
