Aishe Ghosh detained near Bangla Sahib amid protest over CEC; CJP alleges police entered gurdwara premises

New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) Aishe Ghosh, national joint secretary of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and former president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ union (JNUSU), was detained near Gurudwara Bangla Sahib’s Gol Chakkar in New Delhi on Saturday amid protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The demonstrations were called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and left student organisations, which had planned to march to Jantar Mantar. Police barricades restricting access to the protest site led to demonstrators gathering in the vicinity of Bangla Sahib, according to a statement issued by the CJP.
In a press release, the CJP alleged that Delhi Police personnel entered the gurdwara premises and detained several volunteers who had taken shelter there. The party also claimed that its founder, Abhijeet Dipke, co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka and spokesperson Saurav Das had been taken into custody, and alleged that their whereabouts had not been disclosed.
