Centre allows Haryana to start Kharif procurement from Sept 29, reiterates safeguards against irregular purchases

Panchkula, Sept 28 (UNI) The Centre on Monday allowed Haryana to begin procurement for the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2026-27 from September 29 instead of October 1, advancing the exercise by two days while reiterating safeguards against irregular procurement.
The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) conveyed its approval to the Haryana government following the state's requests on September 15 and September 23.
“I am directed to convey the approval of the Government of India for preponement of procurement period in Haryana to 29.09.2026 instead of 01.10.2026 for KMS 2026-27 (Kharif),” the communication said.
While allowing early procurement, the Centre reiterated conditions communicated to Haryana earlier this month. The state has been asked to implement adequate checks and safeguards to prevent irregularities in procurement during the ensuing season.
It has also been directed to rationalise the methodology for fixing yields, including district-wise yield fixation based on objective and verifiable parameters, so that procurement quantities remain commensurate with actual production.
The Centre further directed Haryana to implement AgriStack in procurement operations by the next Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) to enable stronger validation of farmer and land records and improve the integrity of the procurement process.
