Sonipat orders 50 pc work from home in government, private offices from Nov 5 to 20

Sonipat, Nov 4 (UNI) The Sonipat administration on Wednesday ordered government and private offices to limit physical attendance to 50 percent from November 5 to 20, with the remaining employees working from home, as part of measures to curb air pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh said the decision followed directions issued by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to control air pollution.
"All government and private offices must ensure that no more than 50 percent of their employees attend workplaces physically, while the remaining staff work from home," Singh said.
She directed heads of departments and private establishments to prepare rotational duty rosters to maintain essential operations while complying with the restrictions.
Industrial establishments and essential services have been exempted where operational requirements make remote working impractical.
However, industrial units must implement the arrangement in administrative, accounting, human resources and other non-production departments wherever feasible.
The restrictions will also cover administrative and other eligible staff in schools, colleges and universities, but will not affect classroom teaching or students' attendance.
Singh directed all departments and institutions to appoint nodal officers to monitor implementation and ensure compliance with the CAQM guidelines.
"All institutions must strictly follow these directions and cooperate in efforts to control air pollution," she said.
The restrictions will remain in force for 16 days, from November 5 to 20.
