Haryana revises nursing home policy; doctors to use residential plots taken on minimum 10-year lease

Panchkula, Sep 8 (UNI) Haryana today issued a revised policy for setting up nursing homes in licensed residential colonies across the state, allowing qualified doctors to operate such facilities on residential plots owned by them or on plots leased for a minimum of 10 years.
The policy, issued by the Town and Country Planning Department, supersedes the instructions dated February 10. The government said the framework was envisaged with a view to a demand from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the need to ensure access to quality healthcare facilities in neighbourhoods.
Under the revised policy, qualified Allopathic or AYUSH doctors can obtain permission to set up nursing homes that provide indoor admission and treatment on residential plots owned by them or leased for at least 10 years, subject to payment of the prescribed conversion charges. The doctor must have a valid registration number with the Medical Council or AYUSH Council, be currently practising and be registered with the local branch of the IMA. An affidavit to this effect will have to accompany the application. Where permission is granted on a leased plot, it will be coterminous with the lease's validity. The minimum plot size has been fixed at 350 square yards in Hyper and High Potential Zones and 250 square yards in Medium and Low Potential Zones. Such nursing homes can be permitted only on service roads along sector/master roads. Permission will be available in licensed plotted colonies where all internal services have been laid and a completion or part-completion certificate has been issued.
