UP govt to provide outdoor play material to 17,519 Anganwadi centers, ₹87.60 crore approved

Lucknow, Sep 28 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major step towards further strengthening the foundation for the future of the state's children.
Now, Anganwadi centers and Balvatikas will provide a modern environment for play, learning, and physical development for children.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, an amount of ₹87.60 crore has been approved for the installation of modern outdoor play material in 17,519 co-located Anganwadi centers/balvatikas across 40 districts.
Procurement will be done transparently through the GeM portal.
Furthermore, there will be a robust monitoring mechanism, from the district-level procurement committee to the block-level task force. Equipment such as slides, see-saws, swings, roundabouts, and rocking boats will engage children in playful, activity-based learning.
This initiative will make early childhood education more activity-based, enjoyable, and child-centered, while also promoting physical development and activeness.
The state government believes that the stronger the foundation for children's future, the stronger the future of Uttar Pradesh.
Sandeep Singh, UP Minister of State (Independent Charge), Basic Education said, "By equipping Anganwadi centers and Balvatikas with modern facilities, the Yogi government is creating an environment for children where play, activity, and learning complement each other. The availability of modern outdoor play material in 17,519 centers will provide children with a safe, enjoyable, and activity-based environment.”
Under this comprehensive initiative, five types of modern outdoor play equipment will be installed in 17,519 co-located Anganwadi centers/balvatikas across 40 districts.
These include slides, seesaws, swings, roundabouts (standing MGR), and rocking boats (two-seater). These equipment will engage children in a variety of physical activities, creating an engaging and enjoyable play environment for them.
The government's effort is to ensure that learning in Balvatikas becomes a natural opportunity for children, not a burden, but a natural opportunity for play and experience.
The Yogi government's focus is on strengthening children's early years.
In the government's view, childhood is not just a stage of care, but a crucial time for laying the foundation for a child's personality and abilities.
With this vision, resources are being developed in Anganwadi centers and kindergartens, where children can learn while playing, develop while being active, and hone their abilities through activities.
The availability of outdoor play material will provide children with opportunities for regular physical activity in the open, making the kindergarten environment more vibrant and conducive to learning.
The UP government has prioritized the quality and safety of children, along with the availability of play resources. Adherence to prescribed quality and safety standards will be mandatory for the construction, painting, play area, and installation of play materials.
Each equipment will be guaranteed a minimum three-year warranty. In the event of breakdowns or technical problems, the supplier will be responsible for on-site warranty, replacement, or necessary maintenance.
This means that, in addition to providing convenience to children, the government will also monitor the quality and continued usefulness of the resources.
Monica Rani, Director General, School Education said,“The installation of modern outdoor play material in 17,519 Anganwadi centers will provide children with better opportunities to learn through play and activities. Clear procedures have been established from procurement to installation and monitoring to ensure the quality, safety, and effective use of the equipment.”
