UPEDA geared up to prevent winter road accidents on five expressways

Lucknow, Oct 24 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has geared up to prevent road accidents caused by low visibility during fog in winter.
UPEDA has begun winter safety preparations on five major expressways in the state. All necessary arrangements have been directed to be completed by October 31.
UPEDA will implement special safety measures on the Agra-Lucknow, Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, Gorakhpur Link, and Ganga Expressways.
To prevent accidents caused by low visibility during fog, surveillance will be increased on these expressways and emergency services will be strengthened.
Considering road safety during winter, special speed limits will be in effect on expressways from November 1 to February 15. Vehicle speeds will be reduced depending on fog and visibility conditions. Drivers violating the prescribed speed limits will be prosecuted.
A senior official stated on Saturday that special fog patrol teams will be deployed on the expressway during fog.
These teams will continuously patrol and monitor accident-prone areas and alert drivers when necessary. Emergency services will also be activated to provide immediate assistance in case of an accident or vehicle breakdown.
Special safety arrangements will be made on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in view of winter. Additional preparations are being made to deal with fog and low visibility on the Purvanchal Expressway. Security will also be enhanced on the Bundelkhand Expressway and Gorakhpur Link Expressway.
Special safety preparations are being made on the Ganga Expressway to prevent accidents. UPDA has directed the concerned officials and agencies to complete all preparations in a timely manner.
UPDA's focus is on ensuring safe traffic on the expressway during winter, controlling vehicle speeds in fog, and providing immediate assistance to passengers in the event of an accident.
