UP creates history, tops country in digital KCC applications

Lucknow, Oct 7 (UNI) Amidst the increasing use of technology in agriculture, Uttar Pradesh has achieved a new milestone in the field of the digital Kisan Credit Card (e-KCC). So far, more than one lakh farmers in the state have applied through the e-KCC portal or app.
Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to cross the one lakh mark in just eight months. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the digital KCC facility operated by NABARD in February, after which this initiative gained momentum in the state.
This scheme of the double-engine government is proving to be a significant step towards facilitating access to agricultural loans, especially for small and marginal farmers. Farmers no longer need to repeatedly visit bank branches to obtain loans. The convenience of applying and completing the process digitally from home is saving farmers both time and effort.
Uttar Pradesh has surpassed other states in the country in terms of digital KCC applications, securing the top spot. Karnataka is second with nearly 95,000 applications, and Haryana is third with approximately 42,000. Under the direction of Chief Minister Adityanath, farmers in the state are benefiting from this scheme on a large scale.
Under the traditional system, farmers previously had to visit bank branches to complete applications, documentation, and other procedures for agricultural loans. Digital KCC has opened a path to simplifying this process. Farmers are now benefiting from digital access, making it easier for small and marginal farmers to access the formal agricultural credit system.

UP Cooperation Minister JPS Rathore stated that Chief Minister Adityanath launched the Digital KCC in February. It aims to connect farmers to the agricultural credit system through technology and simplify the loan process. The fact that one lakh farmers applied for it in just eight months is a significant example of the increased access to digital agricultural services in the state.

Digital KCC is being seen as an initiative to enhance farmer convenience and accelerate digital transformation in the agricultural sector. Amidst the farmer-centric policies of the central and state governments, the expansion of digital credit is an important step towards providing timely financial assistance for agricultural needs. More than one lakh farmers applying for e-KCC has emerged as a major achievement of this initiative.
